cullen+them anniversary gala celebrating 20 years

Monday November 7th 6:30pm
Manhattan Penthouse, 80 Fifth Avenue
at 14th street 17th Floor

Honoring Kim Cullen

cullen+them’s annual +Award Gala honors Kim Cullen in celebration of the company’s 20th anniversary! The +Award honors individuals whose presence and life work contributes to positive social change. It is only fitting that Kim Cullen be this year’s recipient as we mark 20 years since she founded the first generation of Young Dance Collective which served as a unique way to bring young people together in creative, collaborative community and ultimately led to the formation of cullen+them.

The evening begins at 6:30pm with a cocktail hour followed by dinner and performances from the company. Our 2022 gala is co-chaired by cullen+them board members Melanie Cohn and Daphne Rubin-Vega.

A native New Yorker, Kim Cullen began her career in 1989, founding an intergenerational art space focused on movement-based community building. In 2001, Cullen created Young Dance Collective with a mission to foster intellectual artistic process among young people, providing them with an opportunity to create performance work while developing deep interpersonal relationships. Cullen concurrently produced major commissions for Lincoln Center Festival, River to River Festival, Whitney Museum of American Art, Park Avenue Armory and the 2012 Cultural Olympiad in London. As Executive Director & CEO at New York Live Arts, and throughout her career, Kim remains dedicated to the creation of spaces that support the exchange of ideas and innovative expression through a physical social network with positive connection.

Please join us in support of our mission by attending the event and joining our 2022 Host Committee. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
