On January 12th cullen+them will preview an excerpt of our latest project DECADOSE at the 92Y Harkness Dance Center ShAIRed show. The company will perform at 7:15pm after a day of other fantastic artists.
A new choreo-play written by Hannah Cullen, DECADOSE questions the effects of isolated living on our capacity to foster genuine connection and considers how constant contact with our devices is shifting our relationship to ourselves and each other. It envisions a world, not unlike our own, where people are willing to trade vital, private information about themselves in exchange for another, newer, brighter stimulant. Where we are more encouraged to text than talk, to be plugged in that not, to curate an image rather than tell the truth.
Current research material includes Irresistible: The Rise of Addictive Technology and the Business of Keeping Us Hooked by Adam Atler and Alone Together by Sherry Turkle. Current
